CMSC828Z: Description of Projects

The goal of the projects in this class is to create an accurate animated computer graphics model from multiple (up to 33) calibrated video sequences. For initial results please see the webpage about Spatio-temporal Reconstruction of Human Head using Multi-resolution Surfaces. Possible projects to choose from are given in the list below. Students can pair up in groups of two and choose one topic together. If you are interested in one of the topics, please send an email to cmsc828z at videogeometry.com and I will put your name behind the project title to indicate that is reserved for you. So whoever sends me email first, can choose first. If you have any questions, feel also free to email me.

• Project 3: Temporally-varying Multi-resolution Subdivision Surfaces (Feng Guo)
• Project 4: Temporally-varying Isosurfaces as Shape Representations (Gaurav Aggarwal)
• Project 5: Extraction of Surfaces from temporally varying Volume Data
• Project 6: Evolution of Shape Probability Distributions using the Level Set Framework (Gunay Dogan)
• Project 7: Computation of Visibility and Collision between Surfaces and Cameras
• Project 8: Recovery of Specular and Diffuse Components of Surface Reflectance
• Project 9: Reconstruction of Super-resolution Textures and 3D Flow fields on the Surface of the Reconstructed Object (Kexue Liu and Jihui)
