Er, well, ah. Thats me in the picture. I was born in Hyderabad, but spent
the next 18 years in Trivandrum, a quiet, pleasant, comfortable city. Now
that the city corporation is trying to widen the roads, the place looks
like something out of a World War II movie. I am now
pursuing a doctoral degree in Electrical
Engineering at the University of
Maryland. I work at the Centre for
Automation Research. I've a thousand interests (there may be only
990, I haven't counted them). What with this and that, I'm unable to
devote as much time towards my interests as I'd like to. (Don't we all).
But I shuffle along.
As I mentioned earlier, I've a lot of interests. I listen to
music, I read, I watch movies, try to learn my way around Linux, to
name a few. See why you should use open source and standards in my
Linux page. I like football, and I try to
watch and play a bit here and there. I also like outdoor activities
and I visit parks whenever I can. I listen to music a bit.
I like Elton John, The Beatles, The Police, The Who, among others.
I also listen to Indian music and a bit of classical stuff.
I used to paint and sketch a lot when I was at
school. These days I don't get time to sit down at a painting, but I
sketch a bit occasionally. Its my great desire to start on oils, so
far I've done only water colours and poster colours. I've always
enjoyed watching movies; this is one of the few hobbies that I've
been following on a regular basis. Check out my Movies page.
I try to read when I can from bedtime stuff to literature, fantasy and
am leaning towards philosophy these days.
My brother's webpage can be
found at Srikanth
Sundaresan.
my tools
All the pages in this site were created using the amazing Vim Editor, BASH scripts,
and my basic HTML knowledge coupled with some CSS. It
looks good on the Mozilla
Browser and other browsers that ahere to the standards (If
you use Internet Explorer, you should think of an
alternative, because IE doesn't correctly render pages that adhere to the
World Wide Web Consortium standards. And it sucks.) I used to use Gentoo Linux, but I'm getting lazy these
days and I use Ubuntu and Debian. Why do I go
for Linuxes that sound like some tribe? I don't know. Gentoo is a
species of penguin that is a terrible show off; I know they were darting
around in the Montreal Biodome for the benefit of the spectators while
the other species were standing around looking bored. There are
several translations of the word "ubuntu", but the one I like and is
probably the correct one is "I can't configure Debian" (I saw this on
Slashdot, I think). It certainly was true in
my case. I gave up when it steadfastly refused to recognise a monitor,
and I fell asleep while going through the long list of questions,
some of which I didn't have a clue about.
