Welcome to Yang Ran's Home!

My name is Yang Ran, or, in Chinese, the Rising Sun.

I have obtained the Ph.D. degree in Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Maryland at College Park in June 2006. In UMD, I worked as a Research Assistant in Center for Automation Research with Dr. Qinfen Zheng and Prof. Rama Chellappa.

I got my B.S. and M.S. from Dept. of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, P. R. China in 1999 and 2001, respectively. My advisor was Prof. Qingmin Liao.

My Research includes computer vision and pattern recognition.

  1. Feb 2007: The Gait DNA page is updated with media reports.
  2. Apr 2006: The realtime Gait DNA video demo in CTAC2006 for event detection is updated.
  3. Feb 2006: Here is my resume(pdf version). I am looking for an intern or full time job in computer vision.
  4. Sep 2005: OpenCV tutorial and source code site open
  5. 2005: Winning the "VIVID AWARD: Best Technical Performance Spiral II" with our team in UMD ( Larry Davis, Rama Chellappa, Wael A., Qinfen Z., Antonio T. etc) and SRI.
