My research interest lies in statistical signal/image processing, computer vision and machine learning, with their applications to biomedical image analysis (especially biomedical image context learning), biometrics and surveillance (especially face and gait recognition), etc. My Ph.D. research at Maryland was mostly on face recognition and kernel method, which was summarized by my two books entitled Unconstrained face recognition and Recognition of humans and their activities using video. After I joined Siemens Corporate Research, I concentrated on machine learning approaches to medical image analysis tasks.
