News: I am currently a Research Scientist at Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs in Cambridge, MA.

I am a graduate student in the
Department of Electrical and
Computer Engineering , University
of Maryland at College Park pursuing my PhD. My advisor is Dr.Rama Chellappa. I am interested in developing sensing, storage, processing and
inference methodologies for multidimensional signals. Multidimensional signals
abound in the visual domain and the techniques developed here will
impact problems in computer vision and pattern recognition from video.
My research has focused on these 3 distinct areas- sensing,
representation and inference. We have designed and
built computational
Fourier cameras
that multiplex 4-dimensional optical signals onto
a 2-D sensor empowering cameras to overcome their traditional
limitations such as depth of field, focus etc. We have also
developed novel representations for visual data acquired by these
cameras which have enabled algorithms for efficient multi-video
compression
and target tracking for
single and multiple cameras. Finally, my research has also
led to appropriate inference algorithms for several vision tasks
such as gait based
person identification, simultaneous
tracking and recognition, human
activity analysis
and activity
based video mining.
Earlier, I did my Bachelors in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute Of Technology, Madras. I loved playing cricket at the lush green cricket field IIT Chemplast Ground. Memories of several cricket matches in the hot scorching Madras sun, the gentle breeze at besant nagar beach and numerous inconsequential conversations at IIT still remain etched in my mind. When I was a kid ( its seems like it was really long ago!), I did my schooling at Alpha Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Madras(also called Chennai).I had a great time there for a period of 15 years(Yes 15!! Thats no Typo). |
